Getting Krafty with Nordic Noel x2

Hey there bloggers. I'm back to share another krafty kreation using the Nordic Noel set. And here she is:
This time we're doing a little holiday inspired thank you card. I kept my colour scheme going, using a kraft card base and adding a candy cane striped panel with some cherry scallops courtesy of the medium scallop border die. I die cut a few circles from some kraft, vanilla, and cherry cardstocks, white embossed the Nordic Noel birdie on the kraft, and adhered all the circles together, keeping them a little off center. The "thank you" is from the Essential Sentiments stamp set.

I hope you'll find some time to enter before the a|s challenge ends on Saturday, November 2, 2013.

You can find my other Nordic Noel cards here and here.

Hugs and Kisses!

Getting Krafty with Nordic Noel

Today I'm sharing my newest creation for the a|s challenge blog. I thought I'd try to use every single stamp in the Nordic Noel stamp set, so for the next few days I'll be posting the cards I made from this personal challenge.

Here's my second card from the set. (The first card can be found on this blog post.)
As you can see, I continued the trend of kraft with the candy cane stripe cardstock, and stamped a background using all the smaller images from the Nordic Noel set with french roast ink. The sentiment is die cut from vanilla cardstock using a vintage labels 1 die and stamped with the matching stamp set, as well as the contemporary greetings set.

I've been feeling a little inspired by the Use Your Stamps Challenge on Susan Raihala's blog, so I may just pick out another set when I'm done with Nordic Noel. Check it out. You may find it interest you too.

Stay tuned for my next Nordic Noel card. Coming soon to a blog near you... or maybe just this one. LOL

I hope you'll find some time to enter before the challenge ends on Saturday, November 2, 2013.

Hugs and Kisses!

Sketch Saturday with France Sassy

While surfing the 'net this week, I came across a sketch challenge being sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs and thought I'd play along. I've had France Honey coloured up for a few weeks but have yet to put her on a card. Sketch Saturday #281 gave me the perfect opportunity to do so.

Here's the sketch:

And here's what I created:

I used some of the patterned papers from Lawn Fawn's Into the Woods that I received in my last Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. I was pretty happy they worked so well with my little Sassy. (I tend to colour without having specific papers in mind.) France Honey was coloured with Touch Twin Brush markers and cut out with Oval Nestabilities. The  sentiment is an old rubon from my stash.

This is the first Sassy I've turned into a card. It's my absolute favourite of the ones I've coloured so far. I'm hopeful that I'll be sharing some more very soon.

For all you Touch Twin users, here are the marker colours:

Supplies Used:
stamps: France Sassy digi
cardstock: a|s sugar, a|s french roast, Crafter's Companion Ultra Premium White
paper: Lawn Fawn Into the Woods
ink: Touch Twin Brush Markers
other: Spellbinders Oval Nestabilities, Wplus9 Banner Trio dies, Martha Stewart heart punch, glossy accents

Getting Krafty

On the a|s challenge blog we are Kreating with Kraft, my favourite neutral.

Here's my entry:
I started with a kraft card base stamped with the sheet music background in french roast. Next I heat embossed the deer from nordic noel on to a kraft panel. A strip of holiday washi, two mats in cherry and candy cane cardstock, and a french roast sentiment finished up the card.

This card also qualifies for the Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge - Music, so I'm entering it there as well.

I hope you'll find some time to enter before the challenge ends on Saturday, November 2, 2013.

Hugs and Kisses!

SOG September 2013 Sketch

I found a little time to colour the adorable Big Pressie Tia and create a card for a friend's granddaughter.

My starting point for the layout was the Some Odd Girl sketch for September. I used some EP Hello Summer papers to cover a white card base, cut some a|s sugar cardstock with a Spellbinders Labels 8 die and spritzed it with a|s Splash ink in lemon whip. The sentiment was stamped on a Wplus9 banner die cut. Tia was trimmed out, covered in Versamark ink, and embossed with a half & half mix of clear embossing powder and Prisma glitter.

Sharing my colour combos for all the Touch Twin users out there:

Supplies Used
stamps: SOG Big Pressie Tia, PTI  Fillable Frames 4
ink: touch twin alcohol markers, versafine onyx black, a|s lemon whip splash, versamark
cardstock: Crafter's Companion White, a|s sugar
other: Spellbinders labels 8 die, Wplus9 banner trio dies, Ranger super fine detail clear embossing powder, Prisma glitter

Kisses by Mo Manning

While surfing the 'net recently, I came across some card samples using digital stamps by Mo Manning. I found her site, checked out her stamps and fell in love. I really like that she has a few images available in more than one ethnicity, perfect for me as I try out new skin colour combinations with my Touch Twin Brush markers. So I bought a few stamps and today I'm sharing my first creation - Kisses.

I wanted to experiment with a darker skin tone and use some of my fluorescent markers, and I managed to do both with this card. The bright colours and that sweet little kissy face make me so very happy. I used OWH sketch 191 as my starting point, but ended up with pinked edges instead of the fishtail banner. The papers are from Echo Park Hello Summer and were coloured with F123 to make a better match to her dress. I added a sentiment from A Muse Studio Just Because and called it done.

For all the Touch Twin users out there, here are the colour combos I used for this sweet little image:

I'm entering my bright and cheerful card in Mo's Digital Challenge this week - say it with flowers. I'm also entering it into the Color Me Creative challenge - Anything Goes.

Hugs and Kisses.

Supplies Used
stamps: Kisses (Mo's Digital Pencil), Just Because (A Muse Studio)
paper: sugar (a|s), Crafter's Companion White, Hello Summer (EP)
ink: versafine onyx black, touch twin brush alcohol markers

Midweek Sushi

I'm here to get you take you into the weekend by sharing a few new creations with you.

First up is Sushi Doll AniC. She is just so adorable.
I coloured her using Touch Twin brush markers and cut her out using a Lifestyle Crafts circle die. That sweet flower in her hair had me thinking Hawaii, so I diecut "Aloha" with the new a|s Tall Alpha dies and adhered my sentiment to a Terracotta Tile circle. Some patterned paper from the Echo Park Sweet Day pack was added to a white card base before I assembled the card.
Supplies Used:

Next, is Sushi Doll MingNa.

MingNa was also coloured using Touch Twin brush markers. I was inspired by a recent Marker Pop challenge to colour an image using various blues, so I chose a few blues and got to work. Her hair is coloured with markers from the blue grey family. Square Spellbinders Nestabilities were used to diecut both  MingNa and a mat in a|s ocean. Patterned paper is from MME Happy Day and the sentiment is from the a|s set, Friend to Friend.
Supplies Used:

As a reminder, here are the stamps released in August.

September will be here soon with a whole new set of Sushi Dolls to enjoy. I can't wait to share what Susi has in store for you...

Hugs and Kisses.

YNS DT Call

Today I'm throwing my hat in the ring and applying for the Your Next Stamp digi team.

I've chosen a few of my favourite recent projects to showcase my "style" such as it is.

The first is a little Copic experiment that turned out exactly the way I wanted. I've got a thing for bright colours when I'm creating and these flowers just say fun. Original blog post with project details can be found here.

Next up is a little watercolour wonder. I didn't to use a traditional pink/blue combo so that my card could be used for any relationship - friends, siblings, or lovers. The original post can be found here.

Finally, something I created after my switch from Copics to Touch Twin markers. Original post found here.

I'm hopeful the YNS decision makers will enjoy these cards as much as I enjoyed making them.

Hugs and Kisses.

School's in Session...

So this is the week that the big yellow buses are back on the road as students return to school. In honour of the occasion, I've made a little something from the Sushi Dolls Special August Release. Whether you're a sweet little newbie headed to your very first class ever, or an old coot like me trying to add a few more credits to get that all important degree, here's a little encouragement...

This very (deceptively) simple card took quite some time to create. Somehow, for me, CAS just translates into forever and a day, which is seriously funny since I can't seem to multiple layer to save my life. But I digress...

My dear Mrs. Sherwyn was coloured with Touch Twin Brush Markers. Once she was completely dry, I went back in with my B143 marker just over the lens of the glasses to give the suggestion of a tint and differentiate that area from the rest of her face. I fussy cut her out and adhered her to the edge of a mini chalkboard from an old Simon Says Stamp Card Kit, stuck two layers of pop dots to her head and pencil, and added it all to an embossed piece of cardstock.

If you're a Touch Twin user, here are the colour combos I used for this project:

Mrs. Sherwyn and the rest of the special Sushi Dolls release for back to school are available on Susi's site. Why not create a pick-me-up for someone's lunch box today using one of these adorable images?

Some SOG-ie Love

Today I'm sharing a card I made a few weeks ago for a coworker who wanted something for a friend's birthday. I remembered that the same friend had gotten married last year, and my coworker - the bridesmaid - had worn a pink dress. So I figured that would be a good colour to incorporate in my card. And since I had just gotten some new (to me) Some Odd Girl stamps, I knew I had to use one.

My starting point was Cardabilities Sketch 77 and some A Muse Studio Splash inks.

I cut a circle and used it as a mask to create a pattern on white cardstock, then mounted it on some black, and rounded one corner. I stamped Big Wishes Mae in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured her with some Touch Twin Brush markers. The sentiment and flag banners are from the Celebration Mae set.

Hugs and Kisses.

Spellbinders Feb 2019 Card Kit Part Two

Today I'm sharing the second half of my 10 cards 1 kit using the Spellbinders card kit - Golden Swan. I had lots of fun with this kit ...
